The new director of the U.S. Intelligence Service, Richard Green, may be on duty for just a few weeks until President Donald Trump appoints someone to take office.
Green will not be the permanent head of intelligence, but will hold that position until President Trump appoints his appointed director, the New York Times reported.
Green may remain in charge of intelligence for about three weeks, unless the White House quickly finds a candidate to offer the Senate for confirmation.
Grenel confirmed on his Twitter account that claims of temporary keeping the new post are true, and that Trump will soon announce the candidate's name, excluding himself.
Federal law gives the president the opportunity to temporarily appoint and select everyone for this position, while the official candidate awaits Senate confirmation. /Periscopi/
