Over 400,000 asylum seekers currently are in Greece, according to recent estimates. The new camps are designed to accommodate about 20,000 of them where they will be restricted with a quarterly stay there.
“The Government's version of the creation of new camps and the implementation of new procedures are welcomed”, said Philippe Leclerc, representative of the U n NHCR in Greece.
And what we want is to get rid of this situation, which is a disaster for people who live today and for months under overcrowding conditions”.
