Graduate recognition delayed

The representative and source of report findings from O RCA, Liridona Ademiaj, has said the problem of recognising diplomas has pushed O RCA to start monitoring center NARIC Kosova.

“Problematics in the process of recognising degrees acquired abroad which has often been a topic of discussion in our country has prompted us to begin even with monitoring the national centre for recognition and academic information “Naric” Kosovo......... ..”, the Naric Centre during this period has made a total of 970 decisions, of which it has recognised 4 fifth-level diplomas, 324 degrees of Bachelor where they haven't recognised four of them, have recognised 429 master-level diplomas, and have recognised two, as well as recognised 207 medical diplomas, so in all. NARIC met 924 diplomas. The number of diplomas to which the NARIC Centre has not yet been given answers is 485, of which 64 are from Albania, 209 are from Northern Macedonia and 212 from other countries”, she said.

Center Director NARIC Kosova, Kumrije Gagica mentioned that one of the reasons diploma recognitions are delayed is the non-recognition of Kosovo's state by other countries.

“Often delays in recognition occur even because of states that do not recognise Kosovo.. We've presented some of the challenges that we've had to normalize the work at the center, that one of them would have been and a proposal to create a special law regulating work to recognise diplomas... NARIC Kosova has added a component that is the currency of diplomas won in the Republic of Kosovo, with the aim of using those diplomas outside Kosovo”, Gagica said.

Among other things, she said there are many students who have completed their basic studies and master's studies outside Kosovo, but can't continue their studies outside Kosovo, but neither can she use those diplomas for use outside Kosovo for what is a concern other than recognising diplomas won outside Kosovo, and one of the other major concerns is the failure of diplomas in private colleges.
