Iray Harirchi, a deputy health minister who has been the main face of the government's anti-virus campaign, said he appeared positive late Monday, the day he delivered a press conference on efforts to combat the virus's outbreak.
According to foreign media, Telegrafi records, Iran has become the epither of disease in the Middle East, registering the largest number of deaths outside China.
As reported, there have been 15 deaths and 95 confirmed cases there so far, and all of its Arab neighbours who have been affected by the virus have linked their cases to Iran.
In an interview for the state press I The RNA, a ministry spokesman, said Mr. Harirchi had experienced weaknesses and flu symptoms Monday before holding a news conference and tested positively for the virus later in the day.
It is unclear how he contacted the virus, but health officials said he was dealing with several patients suspected of having coronavrus.
It was Harirchi who confirmed the news on a video published in social media, adding that he was in good health and promising that Iran would defeat the epidemic within weeks.
