Prime Minister Edi Rama began his speech at the Donors' Conference in Brussels with thanks in several languages of the world.
On behalf of the Albanian people, he urged EU member states, but not only to help Albania in the reconstruction process.
Thank you from the bottom of your heart for the precious support you have given so far and please. I speak here also in the name and heart of Albanians. Please support us. Thank you for accepting the invitation of the EC president to this special meeting to understand how dark these moments have been to my country. So please help us as we try to recover from the damage that goes beyond our human ability and rebuild from the vicious blow that struck us in the early hours of November 26. Thank you, Ursula, you personally and your team. Thank you, Charles Michel, for showing us from that first moment of shock to this warm and comforting moment of such a great EU spirit gathering, of this body that has made so much”, he said.
Albania said Rama faced two earthquakes, one physical and the other political.
Be advised, sir. One physical and the other political, both came together to leave millions of Albanians in the country and around the world completely shocked. In fact, the physical wound is why we're here, the November 26 earthquake. But even after the first quakes we're again trying to cope with the consequences of the “the October 18th” a day so dark on our calendar, where the KiE did not decide to open talks with Albania. Believe me, these shocks are carved into our minds and souls. We are not alone in the world facing a natural disaster. The earthquake we suffered was no longer the death of 2019, but we are small, relatively poor. Rich countries can face their own disasters”, Rama added. /Time News/
