Wrong Twins Bring Harmless Deals
Today, agreement on the railway line between Kosovo and Serbia was signed. As it is for the airline, this agreement is being signed in a complete intelligence darkness.
All we know is that for Kosovo, Xheme Wessel signed as Director of Road Transport and Rame Qupeva as Director of Road Infrastructure, while for Serbia Marko Djurovic, leader of the so-called Serbian Office for Kosovo. We saw the participants in the ceremony that there were also the presidents Thaci and Vuciq, of course all this under the leadership of US Ambassador to Berlin Richard Green.
We have not seen the text of the agreement, but we know with full certainty that each agreement that seeks to resolve jobs in a concrete area, without the political dispute being first resolved, represents deviation from Kosovo's national interests in the face of dialogue, but also the postponement of the normalisation process between the two peoples. This is because the political and judicial foundations of these agreements are brought between Resolution 1244 and natural formulating “not prejudiced Kosovo's political status”. So does the fact that civil officials and not political officials sign the agreement.
On the other hand, the newly elected prime minister and government are continuing with ostrich policy. Apparently their problem is not the relationship with Serbia, but only the relationship with the public. That's why they're hiding. With this approach, the government's prime minister will remain Hashim Thaci's negotiating car.
Dialogue with Serbia requires courage and vision. Kosovo needs an agreement with mutual recognition between the two states. But this is not enough for normal relations. This agreement should really be final, one that leaves no open issue that closes every account.
