The infections among members of Jesus' Shincheonji Church, the Temple of the Tabernacle of Evidence (Sincheonji) are linked to a woman.
The sect in the town of Daeg represents 30 of the 53 new cases of the affected, while officials have warned of an unprecedented crisis.
South Korea also confirmed its first virus death, dubbed Coddy-19.
China has so far registered 2,18 deaths and 75,000 infections.
