The German judiciary has announced that an investigation is continuing to explain how the poisoning of five newborns with morphine took place and apologised to the nurse who was arrested by mistake.
Released after four days in custody, it is still among the suspects, with five colleagues in office during the night when babies were poisoned, Kosovo Preress broadcast.
Ulm spokesman Michael Bischofberger said the six were suspected as they were in the department at the time of the incident.
He identified the investigation as developing in all directions. During the investigation, these six people will not work at the hospital.
On December 20, five babies had severe respiratory problems almost simultaneously.
The analysis revealed traces of morphine, and the hospital claims that babies have no consequences.
However, after infants were not required to obtain morphine from any medical authority, the hospital filed a lawsuit on January 17th.
Investigators searched staff cabinets working in the department that day and found a breast milk syringe in the room blocked by nurses.
The first partial analysis showed that there were traces of morphine in the syringe, leading to the ban on a nurse who was repeatedly declared not to be guilty.
The judiciary is now trying to explain why the syringe was in her closet.
At a noon press conference, Prosecutor General Christoph Lehr regrets the nurse's early arrest.
