Analyst: Kurt to act as America requires, to remove the tax unconditionally

Political analysts are praising that it is time for Kosovo to lift the 100 per cent tax on Serbian and Bosnian goods.

Even connoisseurs of political circumstances suggest Prime Minister Albin Kurti not to condition the removal of the tax with reciprocity but to listen to the US.

Ambassador Richard Green's appointment to the head of American intelligence is seen as an additional testimony to his role in Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

Political analyst Ramush Tahiri says Albin Kurti is currently prime minister of Kosovo and has state responsibility rather than party responsibility.

So he wants the U.S. tax removal request to take it seriously and not have conditions, but to act as Green is looking for.

Tahiri says the tax had probably internal effects, but in the international arena it has obviously damaged Kosovo.

“E has harmonised the programme with the coalition partner, and Kurti has a positive change because he behaves like a state-run man who respects the Constitution, Kosovo laws and respects international partnership. The request from the beginning is for the US to remove the tax without any conditions. Because the tax has been put unilaterally, it has had its effects, some of which are positive, some negative, while in the international arena no positive. It means we haven't encountered any international support for taxing because it's not the normal norm in relations between countries”.

“Taxa and bad measures only in a state of war, in a state of crisis in international alliances. While Kosovo has none of that in its reports with Serbia. Albin Kurti must lift the tax without any conditions because his policy should be based on international conventions, in respect of the Constitution, in good relations with neighbours and should not be political of resentment and conditioning”, he says.

Even other political analyst, Fatmir Sheholli, says Kosovo should listen and act as the US is looking for.

It says reciprocity must be decided, but first tax must be removed.

In view of our United States state's most powerful ally, and especially now Mr. Green as President Trump's special emissary is unwarranted any other form of our government in the concept of what is called some nonsense in the assessment of what Mr. Green. So Kosovo should anyway and certainly, the first of its main ally to hear it over and over again, because it's never worked out when we've heard of the United States. And second Mr. Kurt, I believe, has taken some kind of courage to prepare his opinion on this matter and this is happening. In the end, there is political conditioning to make this issue very quickly, but of course it doesn't need reciprocity in this regard because America is saying, not suspended, but you have to remove the tax. In this respect I believe that the reciprocity work may be later, on the way to reaching agreement if Serbia behaves in the form what is contrary to American interests”, he says.

Politologist Ramush Tahiri says the reciprocity issue would be settled at the moment when the tax is removed and there will be a normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

However, he opposes Kurt's idea of being replaced by reciprocity.

The matter of reciprocity itself is and it exists even now as relations normalize, or as the tax is lifted. Because with Serbia we have bilateral relations in certain areas, in other areas we don't have at all. Where we have relations, there's reciprocity now, because it's a ratio that creates equality to the parties, the normal ratio between the two states, and it's not in quantity, but in the rules and in the quality of these rules”.

“Today, the tax is being lifted we will not have inflows of Serbian goods because the import-export contracts are checked. Because border points are controlled and the goods coming in from each country must have the rates for entry, quality and all characteristics which Kosovo as a state does here. So reciprocity is raised to an unnecessary theoretical problem and each is telling its own truth, while reciprocity is a very simple and simple measure that is envisioned in agreements Kosovo makes with other countries and companies and is the fundamental norm of the country's constitutional and laws”, he says.

Tahiri has also commented on the appointment of Ambassador Green from President Trump to the head of American intelligence services, saying this position comes from his successes in diplomatic missions, especially in his role in the agreements reached between Kosovo and Serbia.

I think it will be another US administration person who will take on the role of mediator as President Trump's special emissary in dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia to reach the final agreement. Ambassador Green's role was enormous because it depends on the personal characteristics of how it affects and how it has access to the reaching of the” agreements.

He reached very important agreements for Kosovo and Serbia. But there are also a series of other agreements that will already be signed. It has reached a very important position at the head of intelligence services, and the US will also appoint a framework which recognises the region and has good reports with the country and which is important to implement the policy of President Trump and US President. The individual role may be 30 percent more than is defined by American strategies, but it is not different and it is ongoing. Whoever is appointed will continue working until recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, which is also the final process of this” dialogue, he says,

And Sheholli estimates that such a position is very important for Yerenelli and that this should be a clear signal to Kosovo politicians that his demands have to be taken very seriously.

This means that Mr. Green is above all U.S. intelligence services and coordinates affairs with them. This extraordinary position that Trump has entrusted to Mr. Green is an extremely powerful message for us as Albanians that this man is very reliable and we dare not play any games or compromises in concept with the United States, but we must be correct in this context to do as they tell us to be.

Ambassador Richard Green has repeatedly reiterated the US's request for unconditional tax removal to Serbia, so that the prospect of reaching the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is given.
