Minister of Internal Affairs and Public Administration Agim Veliu has said that during today's meeting with the Kosovo Police Management has urged them to review all laws, administrative guidelines and other decisions with which their scope is adjusted.

Veliu said that after I make a full scan at the ministry leading the Kosovo Police, as well as other agencies within the ministry, I will see which steps to take.

Minister Veliu, after completing his visit to the Specialised Unit of the Kosovo Police, said his main goal during this mandate is to leave the ministry better than it has found.

“My main goal as minister of Internal Affairs with all agencies to make a system that should be reliable for the citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, for the international partners, for the region, but for all who cooperate. My main goal is to leave this ministry better than I found”, he said.

Asked whether to have the same destiny any of the Kosovo Police superiors -- like other public boards fired by the Kurti government -- Veliu said that after doing some kind of scanning, he would come to the conclusion of what he needs to undertake as minister.

I'm going to pay a visit to all of them, I'm going to introduce myself to the body of these agencies, with jobs, with challenges. What's their priority, one-two-three. What are their challenges? I'll ask them to tell me what their expectations are. After doing some sort of scan as all ministries and agencies are said to, then I will come to a conclusion that what I need to undertake as minister, within my competencies and responsibilities as minister of Internal Affairs and Public Administration”, he said.

Veliu also indicated details from today's meeting with Kosovo Police superiors, where he said he has asked them to review all laws, administrative guidelines and decisions under which the police field is regulated.

We discussed the concrete support we need to give the police through growth of the budget. Our joint contributions of the ministry and police to the Kosovo Police membership in international mechanisms. But also in drafting laws and regulations and reviewing them where they need to be. If there's eventually a defect. I asked the management to review all laws that regulate the police field, all administrative guidelines, ordinances, various decisions. In order to have a clear picture of the needs and requirements the police have in this case”, he said.

As a problem that can be avoided, Minister Veliu reiterated the changing appointment of the now added Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Public Administration.

According to him, there may be problems in issuing documentation that, with their change, could have an effect on Kosovo budget
