The National Health Commission in China announced that 65 people died during Tuesday, a figure that represents a new record for the 24-hour period. Most of the victims were shot at the virus's epicentre, the town of Wuhan, and its surroundings.
Two people have already died outside China. A 39-year-old man died Tuesday in Hong Kong, while another man died last week in the Philippines. Both had previously visited the city of Wuhan.
In all of China, on Tuesday alone, 3,000 and 887 new cases of infection were recorded, bringing the total number of infected persons to over 24 thousand.
Some 230 cases of infection have been recorded in 27 other states and the number is expected to increase further, writes “Reuters”, Report Express broadcast.
The World Health Organization declared the global emergency several days ago because of the widespread outbreak of the dangerous virus.
