Over 100 persons with psychic problems, police cannot fire them

Kosovo Police General Director Rashit Qalaj, at a media conference held yesterday in Gjilan, has acknowledged that about 100 members of the Kosovo Police have psychic problems, until it has indicated that due to lack of the Law for Police should keep them at work. We have colleagues who suffer from various diseases, serious diseases, including those who suffer from psychiatric problems. All mentally challenged police in Kosovo offer medical rehabilitation services. It had also announced tenders worth about 13 thousand euros for medical treatment.
Sociologists in the country say citizens may be endangered if police officers with such problems continue to work. According to them, police officers should offer security to citizens rather than threaten them.
We remember that the Kosovo Police Inspectorate in 2018 had demanded the suspension of Kosovo Police members, who have been with psychiatric problems.
