I'm a little scared, but mostly absolutely satisfied and excited that the vaccine is here and I'm getting it”.
So said one of the first people in the world to be vaccinated against the choreographer as Britain approaches the important moment.
Katie Stewart, 37, is an anesthesiologist at the General Borders Hospital on the outskirts of Melrose in Scotland.
Her job of treating patients with Coved in intensive care makes it one of the 800,000 people who will receive the first doses of Pfizer vaccine available in Britain.
“I hope this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic”, Stewart said.
Last week, Britain's drug regulator, bar and health regulatory agency (MHRA), became the first in the Western world to pass the vaccine.
The UK has acquired 40 million doses, enough for 20 million people, but most are expected to arrive next year.
The first doses are destined for nursing homes and elderly people, people 80 and older, and health workers on the front line of war.
