The European Commission issued an approval tonight for the circulation of the vaccine developed by the Biotech and Pfizer companies, making it the first vaccine against it. COVID-19 approved in the EU.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that a new chapter “is opened with this in the fight against pandemic and that vaccines will be available for all EU member states at the same time, under the same conditions.
The first vaccine delivery will begin from the Pfizer factory in Belgium in the coming days. The vaccine could begin at the same time during days of EU inoculation from 27 December to 29 December, “said Leyen in address from Brussels.
The European Commission's approval comes after a positive scientific recommendation based on a full assessment of security, efficiency and the quality of vaccine from the European Bars Agency, but also after the support of all member states.
In Brussels they claim this is the first vaccine against COVIDD-19 and that the rest will be “quickly approved” if they try to be secure and effective.
The European Barnets Agency should give its opinion on the American pharmaceutical company “Moderna” on 6 January.
Von der Leyen recalled that besides procurement vaccines for Europe, The EU, through the Covax mechanism and donations of over 800m euros, is working on providing vaccines for low- and medium-income countries worldwide.
