European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo Violet von Cremon has shown a clear attitude to the Serbian state that without progress, Serbia will not be able to join the EU. The German Eurodeput has said it is very good news that the European Council and the European Commission will not open new chapters for Serbia, as the state of democracy there has deteriorated.
Cremon says that in Serbia the media are under attack, police are behaving violently with peaceful protests, and elections every time they are held have serious problems.
If we don't see progress, then it's okay to say we can't guarantee new chapters. Everyone in Serbia knows that we are convinced that Serbia belongs to the EU and that you have to become a member. There's still a lot of work left, I've asked everyone to actively work on this”, Cromon told N1.
Von Croamon also spoke of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, where he said the two states should work hard at normalising relations and make compromises on both sides.
Otherwise, the rapporteur for Kosovo said Pristina is co-operating with the Special Court in The Hague.
