The newspaper Blic has secured Driton Gashi's dismissal document from the position of secretary of the President's Office.

In the reasoning of Driton Gashi's dismissal, he is said to have committed serious violations of the task.

Driton Gashi's suspension from the incumbent's president is linked to the attempted security safe opening.

A AKI member had allegedly gone to the Presidency and to the presence of Secretary Driton Gashi had attempted to open the security vault where classified documents were located.

The justification they had given was that EULEX wanted to raid the presidency, information the European mission then denied.

The newspaper Blic, days ago, brought exclusive details from this event.

Driton Gashi, before becoming secretary to the presidency, had been chief of AKI.
He was elected secretary of the President's Office at the time when this institution was led by Hashim Thaci.

His suspension from duty took place the day after the co-ordination between the.d. President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti for the release of Kressnik Gashi's post, chief of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.

Hoti's request for the release of the Kosovo chief-in-chief's post is also allegedly linked to the involvement of an AKI inspector in the president's safe incident.

Kreshnik Gashi and Driton Gashi are both former associates of Hashim Thaci, the former Kosovo president who is being held in custody in The Hague.

Before the AKI chief was appointed in 2019, Kressnik Gashi had exercised the office of Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during Thaci's time, the top diplomats.

He had also held positions in the Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Post Communications.
