European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhely confirmed that the European Union is working to make anti-COVID-19 vaccines available for the Western Balkans as soon as the distribution of EU territory begins.
We're sharing funds for supporting and co-ordinating arrangements. In the pandemic we stand near the Western Balkans, whose future is in the EU”, Varhely wrote on Twitter.
Through a video conference, he spoke Friday with the foreign ministers of the countries in the region about how to help provide their own vaccines against the coronary.
It is scheduled for vaccines to be sent to the region through two channels: the first is the World Health Organization's progam, COVAX, which allows high-income countries to ensure that vaccines are available even for low- and medium-income countries; the second channel is through individual member states, which will have a surplus of vaccines.
The European Barata Agency is expected to approve vaccines for the European market on Monday, while, according to warnings, inoculation in the EU will begin on December 27th.
All member states will have access to vaccines at the same time and at the same prices.
The vaccine has already begun in several countries: United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
