The 30-year-old had accepted the murder and disfigurement of his victims nearly all of whom were young women he met on the social media platform, reports the BBC, translates Periscope.
These serial killings sparked debate on how suicide is discussed online.
More than 400 people gathered to see the verdict during today, despite the fact that the court had only 16 seats free.
Public support for the death penalty remains high in Japan, one of the few developed countries holding this cruel sentence.
Chiazishi had used Twitter to seduce young women who had expressed suicidal thoughts about his home, saying that he could help them die, and on several occasions, claiming that he would kill himself with them.
He drowned and broke eight women and a man between the ages of 15 and 26 between August and October of 2017. /Periscope
