| The Pentagon said on Friday it is withdrawing most American troops from Somalia at the order of President Donald Trump, continuing a post-election action by President Trump to reduce the United States' involvement in anti-terrorism missions abroad.
Without detail, the Pentagon said in a brief statement that most American troops and units in Somalia will be withdrawn in early 2021. There are about 700 forces in this African country, to train and advise local forces in a war against the extremist group Al-Shabab, a subsidiary of Al Qaeda. President Trump recently ordered the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and Iraq, and he was expected to withdraw a part or all forces from Somalia. |
