The Swiss government announced today the reduced opening hours for public places, aimed at curbing the new coronary pandemic, although it did not follow drastic measures to block taken in other European countries.
Shops, cultural facilities and sports venues must stay closed during evenings, nights, weekends and holidays until 22 January.
Restaurants and bars should also close their doors at 7:00 pm, but are allowed to operate every day of the week, the ATS reports.
“Anyway, residents will be allowed to leave by midnight on December 24th and December 31st to celebrate Christmas and New Year”, the government announced at a news conference.
“Please cooperate, otherwise we will go towards a deadlock”, Health Minister Alain Berset warned the population.
The government did not announce new restrictions for ski resorts, which will be open during the holiday season or for private gatherings, which will continue to be possible for up to 10 people.
