Recently, authorities in Taiwan have declared that even when anti-Convidian vaccines begin, the world must remain alert to the virus.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung has stated that scientific data on the effect of the vaccine is still insufficient.
“During the first period of vaccine, people must continue with security measures”, he told the BBC.
Taiwan is among the most successful countries in the world in dealing with the state of pandemic. So far there are only 724 confirmed cases, seven deaths, and it has never been isolated.
Success in the fight against the Coronavirus has largely been attributed to early and strict border controls, the ban on foreign visitors, and mandatory quarantine for all residents of Taiwan returning to the country.
Shih-chung has stated that she does not question the safety of vaccines if they offer immunity, but adds that it was not clear to what extent and time she would protect people.
