According to the NZZ, Greece and Turkey have entered an arms race with each other in recent years, while tensions remain high in the Aegean and wider.
The paper writes that this race is currently being led by Greece, as well as recent agreements on advanced jets “Rafale”, French frigates, as well as interest in American aircraft “-35”.
“The US interrupted the F-35 aircraft deal with Turkey due to Erdogan's government purchase of Russian missile systems S-400. Turkey's first 6 F-35 aircraft appear to be given to Greece”, the paper wrote, stressing that despite that, Greeks are unlikely to win the race with Turkey, which has great capacities, as well as advanced greatly in the technology of drones and military ships.
