A snowstorm has caused chaos in parts of the U.S. East Coast. More than 60 million people are facing this winter storm.
The storm is expected to extend from Colorado to Maine, and 14 countries have put in place danger warnings.
In some places, snow is expected to drop to as much as two feet (60cm)! The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned of dangerous “conditions, unless possible travel” in the most affected areas. The largest snow is expected to fall Wednesday evening.
NNS said some areas would see more snow “in an event than they have seen the entire winter”. At least two people died in Pennsylvania after a massive car crash. Police said many people were injured in the crash, which involved between 30 and 60 vehicles.
In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio has warned that the storm may be the most powerful in several years. He warned residents that “take this seriously”.
Schools across town have gone to online school.
Hundreds of flights have been cancelled and railway services have been suspended throughout the northeast.
US Secretary for Transport Elaine Chao warned those in the storm area “to be careful with their moves and not to drive in dangerous conditions”. /rel
