The unit's headquarters will be in Postojna and the new police officers, who will soon finish school, will be on patrol.
The first goal of establishing such police is the biggest security on major roads, more in lines and less deaths in accidents, Transport Minister Ales Hoys told the media after signing the agreement for co-operation in establishing such a police with Infrastructure Minister Jerney Vretovac and Valentin Hajdijnjak, director of the government. DARS, a state highway management company.
The goal is also to reduce the number of criminal acts on the road and ensure better investigation into criminal acts and prosecution of authors, Croatian news agency Hina reports.
In the words of Slovenian police director Andrej Jurij, in the final phase, this police unit must prevent illegal migrations.
