Serwer gives good news to Kosovars: Albright will be included in Kosovo- Serbia

Last week, a session was held at the American Congress House of Representatives in Washington, where Kosovo and Serbia were discussed. This session drew public attention, among other things, to the fact that Madeleine Albright, former US Secretary of State, participated in it. Participants, including Daniel Serwer of the University “Johns Hopkins”, said Serbia should recognise Kosovo and that Kosovo should become a member of the United Nations.

In an interview for “N1”, Serwer has said it is clear that because of his stances it is not welcome in Belgrade, and adds that this is because the Serbian government has returned to Moscow and Beijing.

I think Americans and Europeans should work together on the Kosovo and Serbia issue. Neither side can do this alone. Grennell testified that he cannot do it alone, as did Europeans. Serwer says the EU must be “nicotyper of dialogue”, while adding that what Americans can bring to the table is a great support for Europeans.

“I think I have said some new things about Kosovo and Serbia in Washington, I would stress them. I think Americans should have a supportive role when it comes to dialogue. I think the EU is the mediator in dialogue and should be the host of dialogue. She has the biggest influence on those characters. What Americans can bring to the table is a great support for Europeans as well as for two things: implementing everything they agreed on, but not good in the past, and insisting on reciprocity”, says Cerwer.

Speaking of the possibility of the involvement of former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Cerwer said it is not important what Serbs think, it will be included.

The current is important, not so much in the Democratic Party, but in the democratic world, part of the democratic world that thinks of foreign policy. I think this should be assessed”, the Server said, commenting on the presence of the former Secretary of State at the House of Representatives in Washington.

Among other things, Serwer says he understands that many Serbs will not appreciate it.

Because it defended NATO's involvement in the war after the failure of Rambouillet's talks. And I perfectly understand their approach to me even though I opposed the bombings. However, it doesn't matter, it will have impact, there are interesting things to say. She has witnessed this in the House of Representatives discussion. Frankly, none of us ʹJanus [Buganyski], Madeleine Albright, none of us are welcome in Belgrade because of what we have said. Belgrade has turned towards Russia, towards ultranationalist direction”, Serwer said.
