Kosovo has been waiting for visa liberalisation for several years. However, Hoti's deputy, Driton Selmanaj, is saying that this issue is no longer in Kosovo's hands.

According to him, Kosovo has met all criteria required by Brussels.

“This situation is no longer in our hands. Kosovo has applied its duties or to say the tasks we have been listed by the EU. Now we have some recommendations or assessments of either the European Parliament or the Commission for this country to receive”, Selmanaj has said.

He has said that as a government, they are no longer able to understand why this is not happening, but remain hopeful that there will be positive reflection from the states that are reluctant.

He gave these statements to the panel of discussion organised at “Democracy Plus”, with the theme “The European Reforms Agency I I: A new perspective on Kosovo”?

Kosovo is the only country in the region that still does not enjoy visa liberalism, although the free movement of citizens was consistently promised by the country's political leader.
