The news revealed on Saturday by Health Minister Mikhail Murasko, who said that the vaccine is now approved for use for all persons over the age of 18.
Russia approved the vaccine against the coronary last summer, becoming the first state to take such a step. However, the vaccine was initially approved only for persons between the ages of 18 and 60, writes Free Europe, broadcasting Express newspapers.
Minister Murasko added that tests have now shown that the vaccine is safe even for older people and that they will be involved immediately in the vaccine programme.
By contrast, according to official data, Russia has so far recorded about 3 million people infected with coronary and 53,659 victims. Although the number of cases is among the highest in the world, Russia is not among the most dead states.
