The office called on all to stay home “even if official instructions in their countries allow Christmas meetings. Dr. Hans Kluge, director of O The BSH in Europe reiterated in a statement that the pandemic has resulted in a growing mental health crisis. ”
“We expect to see a greater number of people facing the most serious mental health challenges in the coming months as the reality of this experience gains power,” he added.
In a survey conducted in 25 countries conducted during the first wave of pandemic in the spring and published by the European Commission, 28% of respondents reported feeling lonely and 27% said they had felt depression or anxiety. Winter months traditionally see an increase in mental health problems with people suffering from the Affective Sezonal Disorder (SAD).
