The PDK in Prizren calls for session: Requesting new reconstruction and location for Skenderbe

Totaj has said that from September's artistic value to the location where the municipality has placed Skenderbeu September, they are unworthy of our national hero.

The Mayor Totaj has added that the local power of Vetevendosje with its stubbornness, totally ignoring suggestions and recommendations from citizens and opposition, is also showing disregard for such figures of national history as Skenderbe.

“Madje Chairman Mytaher Haskuka tried the previous day in the television studio to take responsibility away from himself by publicly lying that he has not been much in the course for September because for his final appearance an association and municipality has assigned only the location. The misgovernance of almost all the other areas it has failed goes so far that it mocks itself with the figure of Skenderbe and correctness, even with the brilliant national history of which Kastriot himself is the sole symbol.”, he added.

Totaj has indicated that the PDK in Prizren will begin with collecting signatures for an extraordinary session of the Municipal Assembly, where the September reconstruction of Skenderbeu and changing location will be required because its figure deserves the best location in the city.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Parliament deputy from PDK ranks Eliza Hoxha has said that public art works are usually the product of power relations, social relations, identities summed up in collective memory reflection within the urban space structure.

“As such, these projects must pass through a public debate not only in relation to the monument itself but also with the location itself where it will be located. So, to have the citizens' trust, public art has to target perfection in terms of representation.”, Hoxha said.

According to MP Hoxha, placing Skenderbeu in a circle, unable the prisrenian citizen to be next to him, experiencing him without acoustic and visual noise because of the given context.

The main experience will be from moving cars. Such treatment of urban space produces nothing more than moments of monumentism for daily consumption and political consumption. MP Hoxha has said the past should co-exist with us and as such daily shape our collective pride for ourselves and our identity. According to her, it is shameful and painful how our past and its principal actingists come shaped and portrayed before our eyes.

“Art has no known anymore. Art is something that is experienced by all and citizens are not naive as much as the municipal power of Vetevendosje can be named. Skenderbe's memorial to us is insulting to Skenderbeu's self, but also to Prizren.”, Hoxha further said.

Finally, Eliza Hoxha said that the memorials and statues of this would have to fill us with life and inspiration because of high ideals and life granted for freedom and such as life itself.
