Organisation for Islamic Co-operation calls on member states to recognise Kosovo's independence

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore welcomes the adoption of the Council of Ministers for Kosovo's Organisation for Islamic Co-operation (OBI) at its 47th session, held in Niamey, the capital of Niger.
As the statement announces, through this resolution, member states of the Organisation for Islamic Co-operation appeal to member states, which have not yet recognised Kosovo's independence, to act in recognising the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo, adding that this would serve peace in the region and beyond.
“In addition to the resolution, the achievements of the Republic of Kosovo are highlighted in empowering democracy and building functional institutions. Also mentioned in the resolution is stability in the country, respect for human rights according to the highest international standards, which are embedded in the Constitution and the laws of Kosovo”, the report said.
The Organisation for Islamic Co-operation also welcomes the Republic of Kosovo's co-operation with the economic and financial institutions of the Organisation for Islamic Co-operation, while urging its member states to contribute to Kosovo's economic development.
