How will New Year's Night be marked at Lipjan Prison? Confessions From Prisoners

At the Lipjan Correcting Centre, locked within four walls because of the wrong actions, there are 54 people.

Away from the family and their favorites, some of them will be waiting in ward halls. And in partytime, guilt and repentance for the work done increase.

Of the 54 who are in Lipjan Prison some of them minors sentenced to powerful decision, some in educational measure, and some high-aged convicts agree that “Linebooks cost”.

There's no money buying freedom”, they all say.

Although under 18 years of age and confined to criminal acts, they exploit certain rights like being free.

At the Lipjan Correcting Centre, they can continue their schooling, university and attend various professional programmes.

The social official for the treatment of prisoners, Flare Ymeri, showed where people come from at the Lipjan Correcting Centre and what steps they take as management.

The minors first come here are very emotionally broken and on the psychological side come very heavy. Resization takes time, it takes two to three weeks to adjust to the circle and the life they're going to do here. However, depending on the character of minors or adults, we continue with procedures”.

Always those who come here for the first time try to adapt to the ones who are calmer, have a milder character and understand the weight of the mistake they made. We try to make contact with those who attend school from here, and the programs that are here for reasons that young people who come to make faster expression and living here” are saying Jimer.

Depending on the length of educational mass or punishment, we send them to attend training first, for reasons at least to get out of here by a profession. Those who are in a measure of educational or longer sentence allow them to complete two or three training”.

Some minors for the first time spend their mom - changing party in prison, some now and some years away from their family.

Even young H.B. 17 years old, it's been in Lipjan Prison for five months, and as an educational measure, there are five years in prison for the criminal work “repurchasing, possession, distribution and unauthorized selling of narcotics, psychotrope and analogue”.

Until now, no party I've waited away from my family, I hope to have a good time at this party, even though from them”, says H.B.

However, this prisoner will not miss the party only after there will be other minors inside.

E.B. 19 years old, he has been in prison for a year and seven months, while as an educational measure, he will hold five months in prison for criminal work “Grabije”. This too is impossible to celebrate the New Year with his family.

I have hope of spending the New Year next to my family, but I haven't met the conditions. I expect us to have a good time here in prison with the rest of us...

G.S. 19 years old, that after four months here, there are 11 more prisoners for criminal work “Robbery” will also host the party from the family for the first time.

But this prisoner who has completed the music school will entertain others on New Year's Eve.

I'd like to be close to my family during New Year's Eve, but I hope we can have a good time here too. My family has brought me a guitar and I'll try to entertain the prisoners here on New Year's Eve with the songs that they want”.

This festival is more grim for minors who are condemned for their hard work.

A.B. 18 years old, convicted of criminal acts “grave murder” has been in prison for two and a half years. But unlike others, I'm going to host this party next to my family.

“Festas are days of joy but here are boring days since we're away from family and society. But now I'm in prison and I have to reconcile this”

E.B. 19 years old, convicted of criminal offence “murder” has been in prison for 21 months while serving three years.

I can't say I'm out of my family and within four walls. But I'm here for what I've come to do and I'm going to have to carry out my <x1) sentence.

I regret the work done every day, it doesn't matter if it's a party, because I regret every day since the time the case happened, I'm sorry”

Director of the Bear Beqa Center has shown that on New Year's Eve, prisoners will have better music, better food, and phone calls with family until after midnight.

The new <x0-Viti here is well received as prisoners here are organized in the halls, they make decoration preparations. But this holiday will be poorer because we are not allowed to hold concerts, the largest collection of prisoners like other times”.

“There will be better food, time extensions for watching TV and phone making. It is good because most of the prisoners will visit and a family member may come here to visit. While for those who are inside, we will try to offer them the best conditions to spend this holiday well”, Beqa said.

Arifi, among other things, indicated that 2020, with the pandemic COVID-19, was by no means easy.

” The challenge for us has been the COVID-19 pandemic since the ban on visits especially to minors has greatly influenced. Although we've been trying all this time to make it easier for them to stay here and make up for this absence by developing communication with the family through Skype and phone platform”.

The situation for adult convicts is different from minors, since visiting home again in prison is very serious for them.

But there are some who claim to be condemned for the work they have not performed.

J.S. 32, sentenced to 76 months in prison for the criminal act “Robbery” says he has not performed the work for which he has been condemned.

L.B. 30, who's been convicted of criminal acts “vise” and “Rrahje” has not hosted New Year's Day with family.

There is no one who doesn't regret doing such things. At partytimes repentance grows stronger, every time it bothers me that I'm close to them because of my mistake. I can't go home for the New Year's party because I don't have all the paperwork as required since I've been imprisoned I've never celebrated the change of studios with family”

But even the holidays in prison are good as we friends comfort each other. We feel a little broken by the rest of us that we can't join the family but we've agreed with fate”

A prisoner shared a special confession with Klan Kosova.tv, since after 16 years the sentence awaits New Year's Day with his family.

S.N. 39, now 15 years old, has been sentenced for criminal work “murder” and has nine more years in prison.
