The health system in Kosovo has faced major demands as a consequence of the pandemic, so said in an interview for Online Economy, Hospital Service Director and University Clinic of Kosovo ( Sa SKUK), Valbon Krasniqi.
He even said that during November there were the largest number of patients with over 1,000 who received hospital services.
Krasniqi stressed that in the first week of next year, the services in the expert ambulances at the QKUK clinics, where five of them have become COVID-19 clinics.
Our “health system in Kosovo has faced major demands as a result of the Codavi-19 pandemic. During the pandemic we have prioritized health services because we had to provide services to patients who came to hospitalize sick people from Coved-19. We've had the largest number of patients at the end of November, and during these three weeks to 1010 patients have been extended who've received” services.
<x0]Crahas services of patients affected by pandemics we have also maintained emergency and emergency nature services and most essential services that are necessary for citizens. All regional hospitals have destined the Infective and Pulmology departments depending on the need to increase beds have destined them departments for the treatment of patients affected by David-19. While emergency and gynaecology natural services and other services have continued to be performed”.
“services have been suspended in expert ambulances due to a large flow of patients. Now we've made plans that immediately after the holiday season we will return services to the specialist ambulances to QKUK clinics. Five clinics have been turned into Coddy-19 clinics. The Clinic of Infectia, Pulmology, Interestic, the object of Sports Medicine, and the Central Intensive Medicine. We also have a ward destined for contact with Covid-19” in the Clinic of Pediatrics and Gynecology.
On the other hand, Dr. Krasniqi added that there has been occasional shortages of drug supplies at the SKKKUK level for years.
According to him, not only in Kosovo, but in neighbouring states as far as the antibiotic is concerned, for treating patients with COVID-19, which is not found in any of the public and private institutions.
There have been occasional shortages of drug supply “During this time, we have faced demands of certain drugs. However, most of the drugs which are on the guide to the clinical protocol for treating patients with Covid have been in availability, but there have been shortages of drugs that are supportive. And most antibiotics, if they've been missing, have had their replacement”.
We have a donation and we have enough amounts while we've never had the importance in public institutions since the Health Ministry has failed to complete the operating procedures. The most pronounced difficulties have recently been presented to the so - called anticoalmatic drugs and fraxyparins. We have supplied these drugs and we expect to be supplied for the next few days. But it seems there are also shortages in Kosovo's market, but also in neighbouring states”, Krasniqi said.
