Mortore remains of a person in the Rahovci municipality cemetery have been found, from excavations that began today by legal medicine teams. This has been confirmed by Valon Hyseni, a doctor at the IML, who is currently on the ground. Teams have already continued for the Prizren tour, where it is expected to be dug into a part of a body that has been found earlier.
By order of the War Crimes Prosecutor, teams of the Legal Medicine Institute have begun today's excavations in Rahovec to find capital remains that were near the civilian cemetery, buried by Serbian forces during the recent war in Kosovo.
The body found is unidentified and will be sent for analysis to the institute.
Legal Medicine Director Education Gerjaliu tells details about Kosovo Prees, about this digging.
We know that the cover-up of crime was made in the civilian cemetery, this is one of those cases, like we've had in the Muslim cemetery in northern Mitrovica where so far more than 73 persons have been found who have been disguised in civilian cemetery, considering that perhaps the same could be reopened because it's the place of the cemetery, that's exactly what type of action”, Gerjaliu says.
Gerjaliu suggests that there will be excavations in Tusuz, Prizren, today.
There they will dig for the condition of a part of the body, a person found earlier.
After that, they're going to Tusuz, Prizren, where we've had a finding of a final leg and should check the field if there's anyone more than the suspect... We have had a finding in Tusuz earlier that we now have to check to find the rest of the body or there is something else”, Gerjaliu says.
With these two locations complete this year's excavations, since weather conditions already pose a challenge in the work of field excavations.
In the spring, excavations are expected to continue at Serbia's Kizevac and Staff.
