Norwegian police were notified, at 4: 00 a.m., of massive landslides, and that eight houses were removed from their land in an area inhabited by approximately 5,000 people.
Police defined this as a disaster and said on Twitter that, some <x0 houses have been damaged by landslides. Emergency services, with the help of civil protection and the Norwegian Army, are under way for evacuation.
About 40 ambulances were sent to the scene and evacuation continued, as officials said the danger of further slides still existed. Geologists from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate are currently praising the location where the slide occurred to determine whether it is safe for rescue teams to enter.
The area in which this town is located is known for its rich soil with a type of clay that may vary from solid to liquid. This often causes such disasters, and many times there have been reports of landslides.
