Lutfi Haziri for the elections: It will be hard, but we aim to win

The Democratic League of Kosovo acknowledges the Constitutional Court's decision, which nullified MP Etem Arifi's vote by ousting the Hoti Government. But he accuses the Central Election Commission of Certifying Arifi as an MP candidate. LDK vice president. Lutfi Haziri says the LDK has always accepted the Constitutional Court's decisions, but [...]
LDK vice president. Lutfi Haziri says the LDK has always accepted the Constitutional Court's decisions, but that the latter are paying because of whom, referring to the CEC.
The LDK's “Court decision has always been accepted, regardless of what its verdict has been, regardless of which side has sent the case to the Court to whiteen certain doubts. In this case, the Court has found that an MP's vote has been invalid because of the Supreme Court's firm ruling, which in fact concerns other constitutional organs. It's about the CEC, which has certified the MP and has not been dependent. In fact, at the expense of others, the Government now pays the price of legitimacy”, he says.
And after that decision, the country will go to early elections within 40 days.
Meanwhile Haziri says the LDK will enter the election race alone, while showing whether they have red lines for any political subject. As he says, the LDK will compete in these early elections to win.
We will race to win, of course, as always. The list will contain more creditable names, more representative and despite the difficult race expected to be... It won't be easy, but of course we compete to win in this election... It is not expected perhaps in relation to the LDK that anything happens to me but that the LDK will basically compete alone. If we achieve by building ideological coalitions or principled coalitions, it is quite another issue, but not with political rivals, it is not expected to have a coalition with political rivals. Political rivals are Vetevendosje and PDK”, Haziri stressed.
The LDK deputy chairman says that so far as the subject they have not discussed any name for the post of prime minister or president.
“The LDK has offered its help to build a broader political consensus for electing the president. But there has been no name on the table for the post of president or prime minister in the election option. Now the domestic debate by political parties begins to establish the names for candidacy”, he said.
According to him, whatever the governing formula is, it will be the new political cycle in Kosovo.
When talking about the presidential post and the political crises facing the country, Haziri urges political parties to pledge to elect the president so that successive crises cannot be produced.
“We have entered a cycle of political crises, which will not be easy with management for reasons that the operational electoral system does not favour clean results ever, and if we have the decision of the Court, that the party winning the elections does not reach within 14 days of building the government, then goes to the second party, this stimulates coalitions and has been interesting to developments. But for the president's post, it will be extremely difficult with the post-80 deputies for a president, who will get the majority. If we fail to elect a president, the country still risks going into crisis. The crisis is warned, I would really like political parties to enter into pledge that these elections regardless of how the outcome will turn out, and who will be the one to lead with these institutions to give a pledge the president was elected and not allowed to produce new political crises in Kosovo”, Haziri told the KP.
The Constitutional Court has ruled in favour of the Vetevendosje Movement's request about the validity of MP Heem Arifi's vote for the selection of the Hoti Government, with which the country will officially move towards early new elections.
The Constitution has found that, under Article 71.1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, in contact with Article 29.1 (q) of the General Election Law, the person convicted of criminal acts with a decision of firm form in the last three (3) years cannot be a candidate for MP, nor win a valid mandate in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
Government decisions remain in force, as well as the government remains in office until the election of the new government, the Constitutional decision said.
