Political publicist and connoisseur Agon Maliqi has proposed that the president be elected by the vote of the people.
Maliqi has said the current political system will produce the institutional crisis whenever the president's election is proven.
Under him constitutional changes must be made for the State Chief to be elected directly by the people.
Could you at least agree to a constitutional change so the president can be elected by vote? This system is functioning where the election of the president always causes institutional crisis. Let's go during 2021 to “resset” with three sets of elections: parliamentary, presidential and local.
Former President Hashim Thaci in an interview had said he would run again if the president is elected by people's votes and not by the Parliament.
“will respect the country's constitution and laws. I will serve citizens indiscriminately. And where I'll be after the presidential mandate, I think it's early to talk, but there are two possibilities, the first constitutional changes to be made for the president to be elected by the citizens, so I'll run and be elected again, this time with the vote of the people, I'm convinced of this”, Thaci said.
Kosovo currently has a leader in office after a month earlier, Hashim Thaci resigned from this position to face war crimes charges.
Political parties represented in the Parliament do not have an agreement for the new president, due to be elected within the next six months.
If there is no agreement for the new president, the inevitable country goes to new parliamentary elections.
