The two are under pressure to make an agreement before the United Kingdom will conclude the current trade agreements with the EU on 31 December.
The meeting comes after intensive talks between EU officials and the United Kingdom ended in rage.
Key disagreements remain on fishing rights, business competition rules and the way an agreement will be approved.
