Opening data would facilitate the work of institutions, and that is important to the public as well.
So says Kosovo Treasury Director Ahmet Ismaili, adding that this would include civil society.
There's a lot of information information, so our accounting records are complete and there's enough information, but that information that's for the public shouldn't affect the privacy of other elements. So when that's done, we'll make sure that we include civil society, organizations that are very active in this area, make sure we publish information that is relevant and that enables analysis and the way the budget is being spent, where it increases the responsibility and accountability of those who spend it”, Ismaili told Television.
He says the Kosovo Treasury is working on the largest data opening.
“We have had a plan for this year, but because of the COVIID-19 pandemic, it has changed to re-organising the Finance Ministry website, where it will create a special piece for the Treasury that will gather all budget information in an easy format and gather to a pole that will easily be readable to the reader. Further opening should be conditioned with developments that should be done in our software, as well as in some legal adaptation”, he said.
We have requests every day, where most requests are collected there in terms of the response we give, and this takes a relatively large time, because requirements are of different nature and require manual work. In the dynamics we are and the ordinary activity we have, we face the legal deadline we must respond to”, Ismaili concluded.
