During yesterday's day around 1300, Serbia's police have arrested two Kosovo citizens.
They allegedly broke into the territory belonging to Serbia.
The detainees are Blerim Maqasten, Independent Assemblyist in the Podujevo municipality, and Berat Mejuani.
Fazli Maqastena, the brother of Blerim Maqasten, said they are being held in custody.
My brother and one of our neighbours have even gone out to take a walk in Mirovic and is suspected to have accidentally entered Serbia's territory. According to what we have come to understand from the Kosovo Police, there has been a lot of fog in that section, and they have even been able to lose the” road.
“We have contacted every instance we have had opportunity. From what we've learned, they're being held in custody either in Prokuples Prison or in Kursumeli”.
Maqasten says she contacted the arrest attorney.
I even contacted their lawyer. He was assigned without asking these guys because they haven't been able to provide a lawyer. He's come from Belgrade, and they haven't let him ask questions without a lawyer”.
He points out that the lawyer has told him that both his brother and his neighbor are well.
I've been told that they're fine and well maintained. I asked him if they were alive? He told me: ”They're alive.“”.
However, the brother of the Podujevo municipality's assemblyist has doubts that the two Kosovars may even be mistreated.
Even Fazli Maqasten, fearing that they are facing the worst.
The Avokat told me well. But I don't have any more information.
I haven't been able to contact them. I don't know what condition they're in. Are they being tortured? Or aren't we sure they're alive first?
The arrest case of Blerim Maqasten and Berat Mejuani has confirmed the Kosovo Police, by spokesman Daut Hoxha.
Maqasten's arrest was confirmed by P official DS's Nature Kuci.
Kuci said they were informed of Maqasten's arrest and that they talked to his brother about it.
“Yes, Brian has been arrested. Walking in the mist has moved through Serbia's territory and has been arrested. I talked to my brother and he hasn't been released yet. The acquisition has recognised our authorities that have violated in Serbia and Serbia's authorities have already arrested”, Kuci said.
Unlike the news of the arrest of two Podujevo citizens, Blerim Maqasten has also been confirmed by Kosovo Police, who said they have contacted responsible authorities in Serbia, where they have also received confirmation of their arrest.
After receiving information that yesterday afternoon, two people near the village of Mirovc-Merdar may have been disoriented as a consequence of the mist and made their way into Serbian territory, Kosovo police have taken immediate action and are interested in contacting the other side at the border, where competent border crossing officials with the neighbouring state have received confirmation from them that two Kosovo Albanian persons have been detained by Serbian police authorities, handling their case, and, according to them, cannot provide more information because of the most concerned procedures, said the Kosovo Police.
It should be commemorated that this is not the first arrest made by Serbian authorities and that in many cases these arrests went even further away with their imprisonment for months.
Unlike the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there was still no statement concerning developments dealing with the arrest of two Podujevo citizens by Serbia's police.
