A person's mortar remains have been found today in the cemetery of the town of Rahovec and the remains of another person in Prizren, persons killed and then buried by Serb forces during the last war in Kosovo. After forensic examinations and identification, mortore remains will be handed over to family for burial, the Government Commission for Missing Persons announces official.
The unit's leader within the Government Commission for Undiscovered Persons, the Gara Conception says of Kosova Prees, that the morto remains found in Rahovec have been in the city's cemetery space.
He tells details about the morto remains exhumed today in Rahovec.
“In the case of Rahovec information was shared months ago, we are talking about a victim sometime in May 1999, which was buried in this burial space by Serbian forces at the time the family of two other war victims were burying their families from Serbian forces, right then there was an intervention by Serbian forces and burying this body by displacing their family”, Garja relates.
He says that for both locations where he was dug today, the information was received by citizens and called on all those who have doubts about such locations to report the Government of Kosovo.
Then it's continued with excavations, as well as another location within the city's cemetery space, but I speak in the city of Prizren, at Prizren's Tuzu neighbourhood cemetery and excavations have resulted in the discovery and exhumation of mortar waste at least one person or the victim of war. I'm saying at least since it's certainly necessary in two cases to conduct the necessary forensic procedures or examinations and samples from the exhumed morto remains to be sent for AND analysis to confirm or identify these mortories and then, after identification, be returned to families for burial”, says Gara.
Excavations today were conducted with the order of the War Crimes Prosecutor.
With these two locations complete this year's excavations, since weather conditions already pose a challenge in the work of field excavations.
In the spring, excavations are expected to continue at Serbia's Kizevac and Staff.
