Malcom Simmons, former chairman of the EULEX Judges Assembly, will report to the deputies of the Kosovo Parliament in January next year about the numerous irregularities he says has information that took place during his service in the EU law rule mission. The date of his reporting, for which the deadlines were only in mid-December or January, was set at the meeting of the Commission for Legislation, Mandate, Imunete, the Assembly Order, and the Supervisor of the Anti-Corruption Agency on Friday.
The chairman of this commission, Rock Manaj, from LDK said it remains to be decided whether it will report Simmons online or at the plenary session, the KOHA reports.
“Administration must take care of and see the interest of MPs and depending on it to determine the country, either here, or in the plenary session because of the conditions we have due to indecision. The deal is for this hearing to begin on January 18th”, he said.
And Abelard Tahiri from the group The PDK said the issue with Simmons is not only a meeting issue, but the beginning of a long process, and said it would be better to attend the hall.
It's important to have a consensus within this team, this commission for the work of the date, for the work of further developments, because as I see it has been a process that has to continue with a few other steps after that, and it won't just be a meeting whether online or physical, but it will be the beginning of a long process and our agreement, our consensus think is very necessary. We all have the same purpose - to draw the possible truth from the person in question. I think if the meeting was held in the hall, it would be better”, Tahiri said.
Alban Hyseni of Vetevendosje also said that the weight of the case requires that Simon's reporting take place in the chamber of the Parliament physically.
“I believe that as political subject and as the party of the movement, the EULEX issue has been raised and treated more than all others. And because of the importance of the matter, let's draw more arguments and facts, I think we should all be prepared. As for the form of keeping the meeting, I think it's better to be held in the Assembly”, Hyseni said.
Former head of the EULEX Judges' Assembly, Malcom Simmons, through a letter has said there is information about interference in criminal investigations, threats made against protected witnesses, promotion of protected witnesses, manipulation of judicial panels, attempts to intervene in criminal judgments, hiding evidence, concealing evidence for the conduct of criminal acts, attempts to prevent criminal investigations, illegal access to private posts, obstructing justice and interference in criminal issues for further political objectives.
EULEX had reacted after the letter, saying Simmons' version was “unilaterally and unproved” and that he has refused to co-operate with an investigative team that was created for investigating the extent of possible violations reported by him. However, these claims had again reacted to Simmons, naming them as “taking action against him because he's a beacon”.
Simmons had resigned from EULEX in November 2017.
