The findings presented a disturbing picture of how China has detonated the weaknesses of the global telecommunications network as an active surveillance route and attacks through these operators.
The attacks enabled China to target, trace and intercept American users' telephone communications, according to Gary Miller's data, Pryscope follows.
Miller, who has spent years analyzing mobile threats from intelligence data, said that in some cases China appears to have used networks in the Caribbean to conduct its operations.
At the heart of these claims, China, using the state - controlled telephone operator, was directing signal messages to American users when they traveled abroad.
Signal messages are companies given by telephone operators on the global network, without the knowledge of users. They allow operators to locate mobile phones, connect phones to each other and so on. But some of them can be used for illegal purposes, such as tracking, monitoring or intercepting communications. /Periscope
