Large parts of South East England, including London, are now under a new, stricter level of restrictions, in an effort to curb the rapidly spreading virus. There is no evidence that the new version reacts differently to vaccines.
On Sunday, the Netherlands banned passenger flights from England because of the new version. The measure will remain in force until 1 January.
What do we know about the new version?
