A powerful earthquake has hit Croatia today. The epic quake near Petrinja was in magnitude 6.3, but it has also felt a lot in other parts of Croatia, reports Croatian media Index.hr, translates Periscopi.

Police in Croatia have recommended that citizens not stay in the buildings.

We urge citizens who are urgently, if they can, to go out in space and not stay close to building”, the Croatian police report said.

According to EMSC, the epicentre was 46km southeast of Zagreb. The quake was also felt in Serbia.

EMSC says this is the strongest earthquake that has hit Croatia this year and that the earthquakes of this power could cause significant damage near the era.

A day earlier (28 December) a moderate earthquake shook the central part of Croatia and its capital, Zagreb, causing damage to several buildings.

The quake was followed by another quake, with strength of 4.9 degrees. In March, a 5.3-degree Richter earthquake caused considerable damage in Zagreb. One person died and at least 27 were injured. /Periscopi/
