A source told the agency The AFP is thought to have infected Makron during the time he was attending an EU summit in Brussels last week, where he stayed 20 hours with European leaders.
The 42-year-old president began to experience symptoms of coronary on Wednesday evening. He will remain in isolation for seven days, but has said he will continue working from a distance.
It is reported that his 67-year-old wife, Brigitte, has proved negative in the Corleone test and was isolated in another country in Paris.
Because of contacts with Makroni, the decision on identity has also been made by France's Prime Minister Jean Castex, as well as the leaders of four EU countries, Belgium, Portugal, Spain and Luxembourg.
