Health authorities said a woman in her 30 ' s has come up positive in the coronary test after contact with a pilot from New Zealand who works for a Taiwanese company.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said the pilot has failed to accurately state his contacts and activities to the authorities as he is confirmed as a carrier of the virus, writes The Guardian.
According to authorities, the pilot has visited several buildings, including a shopping center. He could be punished for over $10,000.
So far, Taiwan has recorded only 770 cases of coronary and seven dead. This country is highly praised for successful management of the situation. In the first phase of the pandemic, Taiwan has closed borders and implemented strict quarantine rules.
Most of those coming from foreign countries should be quarantined for two weeks and should be tested negative. This measure has kept the virus from spreading from foreigners to local communities.
However, pilots are subject to easier measures, including vetoation for three days. The case of the infected pilot has prompted debate over whether the rules should be hardened over this category as well.
