Grigore Lup says that the shoes he made in May, 75, were sold worldwide, and that business entrepreneurship enabled the store's survival, Reuters reports.
Lup has a shoe shop in the Transylvanian town of Cluj. He began making giant shoes when he noticed people standing very close and ignoring recommendations at a minimum distance.
Both men in his shoes, turning away, are almost two meters away. In addition to regular orders, Lup says he has received orders from performers, including a group of American rock music and a dance nurse from Belgium, and from large-legged people.
I got a lot of messages from people with big legs. They concluded they could do 50, if they could do 75”, says Lup.
Grigore sells a pair of boots at a price of 150 euros. He has been a shoemaker for 40 years, and prior to the pandemic he lived on errands from theatres, operas, dance assemblies, but the coronary epidemic closed that part of the business.
