Great Britain has ordered 100 million doses from producer AstraZeneca enough to vaccinate 50 million people.
The approval, by the drug regulator, means that the vaccine is both safe and effective.
The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was established in the first few months of 2020, and tested at the first volunteer in April and has since passed through large-scale clinical trials involving thousands of people.
This is the second vaccine approved in the United Kingdom after Pfizer vaccine. - B ONTech, which was put into use in December.
More than 600,000 people in the United Kingdom have been vaccinated.
