Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prosecutor's Office said through a statement that the group suspected crimes against humanity in the case of imprisonment and torture of about 150 Muslim and Croat civilians in the town of Donji Vakuf in 1992.
Many prisoners are said to have died as a result of inhuman treatment, beatings, and harassment or have suffered permanent trauma.
Bosnian police said the arrests were made in the town of Banja Luka.
The suspects will be handed over to the prosecutor of the case within the legal deadline, in line with security measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The prosecutor will interview them and make decisions on further actions”, the statement said.
Over 100,000 people were killed in the Bosnian war, which ended with a US-brokered peace agreement in 1995.
With this agreement, Bosnia is divided into two entities: The Muslim-Croatian Federation and Republika Srpska.
