Biden is first informed of national security issues, by January taking office as president

Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are also expected to announce their economic team's names today.

Numerous media organisations, based on information from people aware of the process, have announced that Neera Tanden will be appointed to lead the White House Budget Office, while economist Cecilia Rouse is expected to serve as chairman of the Council of Consultants on Economy.

Mr. Biden has already named former Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen for the post of Secretary of Treasury and is expected to choose William Adeyemo to serve as Mrs. Yellen's principal deputy.

On Sunday, Mr. Biden and Mrs. Harris announced their public communication team, made up of women.

“Direct communication and truth to the American people is one of the most important tasks of a president, and this team will be believed to be the extraordinary responsibility of establishing the link between the American people with the White House”, Mr. Biden said in a statement.

Kate Beddingfield, who has served as communications director for the Biden-Haris campaign, was named for the position of director of communication at the White House.

Mrs. Beddingfield used to work for Mr. Beden when he was in the office of vice president in Obama administration. Pilli Tobar, who has served as deputy director of the organisation “America's Voice”, a group supporting reform in the immigration system, will serve as its deputy.

Ashley Etienne, who has served as communications director for House Speaker Nancy Pelos, was appointed to the post of communications director for Mrs. Harris.

Simone Saunders, who worked for Senator Bernie Saunders during his presidential campaign, will serve as senior adviser and press spokeswoman for the vice president.

Jen Psaki, who has held several positions related to communication issues under Obama's administration, has been named White House Press Secretary. Karine Jean-Pierre, who has worked for the NBC and MSNBC television networks as political analyst, will serve as its deputy.

The training process for Mr. Biden officially began last week after the federal agency recognised him as the visible winner of the 2020 presidential election, even though President Donald Trump continues his efforts to undo his victory in the election.

Mr. Biden has named a number of officials who will be part of his team, including the head of the National Security Agency, Secretary of State and Secretary of Treasury. /voa.
